D.C...............agian

We went to DC to see things.... more specifically Jamie never saw the declaration of Independence so we went to see that. We road the subway in and found the archives. walked through all the exhibits and saw all the old papers that define our country. it didnt take very long so we went to the other side of the building where the actual archives are. everyone thought we were lost and we kept having to explain that we wanted to use the archives not just see the exhibits. so we went in and started looking.

there was not much on any of my family but Jamie found some seeligs so it was all worth it. we ended up spending about 3 hours in there.

there was a round building that neither of us had ever gone to so we headed that way. it ended up being an "art" museum. Now i like art but this stuff was just sad. And most of it wasnt even American so it shouldnt have even been there.

there were like 12 of these things
ART
NOT ART

The next day was sunny so we road the bikes in. We parked about 5 miles out and road a bike trail all the way there. it was great having the bikes cause you could go anywhere with them and go the same speed or faster than the cars could.

while we were at the Jefferson monument i decide to eat a granola bar. A squirrel noticed me and i thought he was cute. so i decided to give him a bite. he bites it then grabs it in the middle and breaks off over half of it. i tried to chase him down so i could get my snack back but he was a better climber than me so he won.

Not the actual thief but looks just like him

Jamie pretending to fly a plane

we headed for the car hoping it was still there because the parking lot had a 3 hour time limit and we had been gone about 6 hours. it was still there so we loaded the bikes and went back to our friend Cody's house.

Vales are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

The Vale history was once a mystery,
So we went to Pennsylvania instead of Transylvania, ( actually we did go see Hotel Transylvania it was great!)
Here was an old building made out of stones, and this is where the Vale mystery/history became know.....

The first Vale that came over to America was Robert Vale he married Sarah. He was a ship captain.  He was given land in exchange for bringing quakers over to america. There are many walkers in the grave yard as well who were also related to the vales. The grave marker of Robert and Sarah has been replaced but some of the stones are original from the 1700's.

Plymouth Rock

While we were in Massachusetts we went to Plymouth Plantation, saw the Mayflower II, and saw Plymouth Rock . The Mayflower II is a boat ( ship, people get really pissed when u say boat) that was made in the 1950's in England to represent the original Mayflower. It sailed over here to America and parked at Plymouth and now people can walk through it kinda like a tour. Its pretty cool. But the tour people wouldn't let us climb up to the crows nest.... o well.

Now about this rock that everyone talks about.... its a  rock....locked in jail....it has 1620 stamped on it....and sand that's raked daily. sad life.

The Plymouth Plantation is a complete reenactment of the beings of colonial life. First thing when you leave the Welcome center you head to the Indian Village and there are huts and canoes everywhere. They have a garden in the middle of the village. And there are people walking around in the native Indian garb working or doing things that they would have done back in the 1600's.There's suppose to like 20 people working and doing things but, we only had 3 actors in the village to talk to but it was still a blast.

Then we left to head to the colony. The colony we had conflicting feelings. The houses and animals running around were super fun to be apart of. But people wouldn't answer any of our questions. It was like they had a skit that they had to stick to. And they did make any since by they would talk in Old English and they'd talk fast and we couldn't understand anything they were saying. ( and trying to have an English accent with their real Boston accent doesn't really work.ha)

Then we went to The Craft Center. Where there is a carpenter that you watch and talk to about what he's doing and check out his tool. And there was suppose to be a potter but she was absent. And there was a Indian Man who made ALL the traditional arrows, bows, pots, bowls, etc. We spent most of our time at his station talking about EVERYTHING under the sun. It started of about the arrow heads he was making, then about his history, then Indian history and right before we left we were talking about dog.... this guy was cool!

Now we've made our way to Conneticut visting some family.

                            thanks for the gas Corey

I think ill go to boston

when we had a less rainy day we found a covered table and emptied the truck in search of our little friend but we never found it. no more food has been eaten so it either got eatin by carbon or he found his way out somewhere along the way. or he could just be hiding really well.

we were off to northern maine to find some trains. it was a little rainy but we decided to go for it any way. As we made our way though the forest the veiws got better and better and the roads got worse and worse. We spent at least 3 hours trying to find the right road to get close to the trains but never found it. we took our truck down a cuple of trails that it didnt really fit.

Can you find the trail? i promise its there.
we had just come threw this only to find out it was imposible to go further. so we turned around and went back through.

eventually we found the right road but it had been closed off so we had to hike a lot longer than we originaly expected. We went for it anyway. the further we got in the harder it started raining. we kept going fearing that we were right by the trains and not wanting to come so close and not see them. But of course it was pouring and the trail was 6 inches deap with water. we were completly soaked and geting cold. so we made the dificult desison to head back to the truck. i still want to see them so ill be back some day but the weather said rain for at least another week.

While in maine i wanted to see those trians and jamie wanted to get sea food.

Sence the train idea failed we were really counting on the lobster dinner to fix our memories of this place. most everything has already closed for the season(really annoying). but we found a place that didnt look to expinsive and still looked good( it kinda looked like Hatfields, a small burger joint in tulsa). we spent $40!!! for one meal pretty much. i still dont like sea food. the lobster was really expinsive and we got about as much as a hotdog( we really wanted to go to a nice resturant and get a whole lobster instead of just some lobster meat). we got a lobster roll and the fishermans dinner. which was fried shrimp, fried clams, fried scallops, and fried haddock with a side of fries and cole slaw.  we both didnt like the clams. but jamie was ok with the rest but, really liked the shrimp and lobster.

next stop was boston. so we drove into massachusetts and found a campground. (there all still expinsive, cant wait to go west) while we were there we saw some seals laying out on the rocks and i was fasinated by how much the tide moved(never been on the ocean much). as we walked down the beach there were crab body parts everywhere from when the sea gulls get them. messy eater i guess.

now were just north of boston. were gona go see plymouth rock. thats as far ahead as we plan.
take care then byby now.
